Farmall A 1946 modelHi I just joined the club last Sunday, Aug 5th because I have a 1946 Farmall A that belonged to my Dad. It's been in storage since he died in 1998. In fact it's been in the family since it was purchased in 1946 by my mother's cousin in Yorktown, Texas. I got it running last weekend after putting in new plugs, wires, points, rotor and dist cap, but apparently the clutch plate is stuck to the flywheel as I can't seem to get it to disengage when I put the clutch in. A club member John, suggested that I use some brake cleaner thru the inspection hole to help. Thanks John, I will try it this weekend. Also, someone suggested starting it in gear and try driving it. I am looking for to restoring this tractor, as it brings back great memories of my childhood.
Re: Farmall A 1946 modelI failed to mention, in my other post, that if you block it down and spray it with brake cleaner, it may need to set a few days and spray it 2 or 3 times over the period, but that frequently works.

Re: Farmall A 1946 modelOK, thanks, a nother suggestion was to start it in gear and try driving it for awhile. Any ideas with that comment?

Be very careful...
Re: Farmall A 1946 model
That's exactly how I got mine loose. I drove it around the barnyard a while and when it seemed like it wasn't gonna work I headed for the barn. Just as I entered the barn and the tractor bounced at the door entrance, it gave loose. Just make sure no one or nothing gets in front of you. Here is a link with more about a stuck clutch. http://www.farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=51941&hilit=stuck+clutch I don't believe in taking the bull by the horns. I took a goat by the horns once and that was enough excitement for me.
