Got a project that you are working on that is not a tractor? Maybe a barn to hold your tractors or just fun stuff like woodworking, glass, tools, sheds, gardens, custom implements, etc., this is the place to talk about it.

The General ( wife ) wanted a storm shelter put in this year. The tornado that went through Harrisburg Il in February was a little to close for her. I said fine as long as I get to add on to my barn. The shelter is 10' long, 6' wide, and 5' 6" high. I have electrical power to it from the shed in the background. I had it set 4' in the ground and then filled in around it. Almost done except for a roof and shortening the vents. I requested no more projects that involve railroad ties. Hope that works. Barn addition is done except for gravel and a gutter.

Nice! I used to work at a saw mill. Had to stack dozens of railroad ties a day - still green and heavy (ok... heavier). In those days I was younger and stronger though.

There is nothing special about the inside. It is just four walls, a roof, and a floor. It is only 5' tall inside so not to many people can stand up in it (I am 6' 1"). Almost got to use it last evening. Had a couple of tornado warnings south west of us. Luckily things calmed down before they got to us. We have acouple of chairs, a shelf unit, and a radio in it for now. I am trying to convince the wife I need a new recliner for the den so I can put the old one in the shelter.

Whatever you put in it, take mold and mildew into consideration, it may tend to be damp in there.
