New Job = New Ride

I will be starting a new job in 2 weeks and for the first time in 12 years I won't have a company vehicle. All I needed was a small gas miser however without a pickup I would not be able to pull my trailer. The family van has 176,000 miles on it so we decided to snag this 2006 Silverado. It will be my commuter vehicle for now but once the van has coughed it up, this will be the family truckster and Cub hauler when I need to.

Same line of work, hopefully without the 60-70 hour weeks. I worked for the "new" company from 1992-2000, left without burning the bridge. Spent 10 years as branch manager for a Boston based company, economy went south so that gig came to an end in 2010. I took a project managers position with a former competitor with a good salary & benefits however my style of project management didn't match theirs so it was time to move on. Still not a great economy however the owner of my "new" company wanted me back and we came to terms earlier this week. We will make some adjustments to our spending and hope that things work out. Once I get settled in, I should be working from home 2 days per week and commuting to the office 3 days. Here's a link to the website for the "new" company - R & R Window Contractors, Inc.. The photo on their home page of Manchester Community College is a project that I did in 1999-2000.
I finish up with my current employer on 10/25 and start with R & R on 11/5.

Trust me, I would have loved to have found an F-150 in this condition for the price. I have been driving a 2008 Silverado W/T for the last two years. It has the 4.3L V-6 and what seems like a 0.00 rear axle. It's a tin can on wheels. When I saw this truck and took it for a ride it was like night and day versus the 2008.
One of my company vehicles was a 2003 F-150 SuperCab 2WD with the 4.2L V-6. Great ride, really comfortable, handled great, and pulled my trailer no problems. I was able to buy it as part of my severance package in 2010 and now my oldest son has it.

That ain't gonna happen.
Aron went mud-boggin with his 1995 Ford Ranger a month ago and fried the alternator and who knows what else. Last Saturday afternoon he went four-wheelin with some friends and went through some water - too deep and too fast. Hydrolocked the engine! Now he's trying to find a decent 3.0L V6 to dump in.
Erik has his Polaris Sportsman 500 to get his kicks.

No influence at all from Cecil. Had it been an F150 rather than a Silverado, it would be in the yard.
