Computer and the PTO

I'd like to thank Dennis for his patience in helping me solve the computer issues that have prevented me from using the website....Port firewalls and IP adresses.....way over this country boys head.....But patience and shuffle the cards always rules....And my PTO is apart with the exception of the pilot bushing thanks to Barnyards video on You tube in reference to removing the pulley on the PTO and Tim's help in checking the operation thru the transmission filler hole....Waiting on Parts....So I did catch a little of using cut-off bolts as a guide for installation purposes and bolts to remove the pilot bushing....So anyhow if anyone has any info on installing the PTO I would be glad to hear it.....I ordered a new shaft and the applicable bearings etc....Figure if it was apart I might as well replace the parts that looked bunged up....Great site and great bunch of people....Glad to be part of it....Dave

Dave - check the how-to forum for a post on installing the pto shaft. It is pretty straightforward. A small light and using the transmission fill hole as a sight port really helps you see what is going on.

BTW, if you haven't learned already, when you come on the forum to check new post, hit board index then "view new post". Saves alot of time as you won't be rereading old post to find the new stuff. Also you can have the forum send e-mails to alert you of post you made or are watching.

It can be touchy installing the PTO lever inside of the tractor if you have big hands. On the outside the battery box gets in the way of the lever, also. I don't bolt down the lever guide until the button is in the groove of the clutch. The extra free-play seems to help get all of the parts together more easily.

Make sure that the set screw is "just tight enough" on the clutch.

What Todd said, but also make sure that allen screw is either staked in place or use Loctite thread locker to ensure the set screw does not vibrate loose over time. Good luck with the repairs.
