hi folks, i'm jake, i have a 1948 cub that i'm gonna start rebuilding in the next few years, and i'm here to learn some stuff about my little project.
My grandpa gave it to me a few years ago and it's been sitting waiting for me to finish highschool, so i have time to work on it.

G'day to you and boy, having Granpa's Cub is a real cool honour. Take care of it and get it redone. There are lots of folks here who will be able to help you with that project. Suggest you keep up with homework and do some on your Cub - follow the links below and you will find the Owner's Manual, Service and Part's catalogs. These you should become familiar with if you are really going to delve into your Cub and do a restore. There are lot's of other resources from How To Fix that to How to Make a part. We like pics ... so post some of your Cub
thanks for the welcomes, it is not running, i think i'm going to have to do a complete tear down, it hasn't run in over 10 years, dad said that when he was a kid my grandpa bored the motor out a couple times, so we might have to bore and sleeve it, or get a new block.
i will definitely go over the manuals.
off-topic but, is there a company that makes accurate reproduction parts for the cubs? i need a set of front rims, one of my current rims rusted through a little. (about a quarter sized hole)

i was reading a little about electrolysis, i might have to give it a shot after i get back from my trip, maybe i can save most of my tractor by getting the rust off, and priming and painting the parts real good.
Welcome to the forum. A cub project - keep and eye on for what you need, post wanted items on here and watch ebay.
Have you tried to start the motor? There are a lot of cub doctors on here with some excellent advice, and a lot of times those old cubs can be brought back to life with a little bit of cleaning and adjusting. Get it running then see what you need.

Since it has sat a long time, be sure and prime the oil pump before trying to turn over or start. Congrats on inheriting the family Cub.

i have a question, i pulled the differential (?) cover where the PTO comes out, drained the fluid, and cleaned up the covers and bolts, in the manual, what is this called?
i need to replace the fluid and i'm not sure how much i need.
EDIT: here the thing i'm talking about.
