flotation tires for front

Hi all, please suggest front tire type/size to minimize soil compaction and not dig in on tight turns.

Also, where is a good place to purchase them?

Check your local small engine shop. Thinking a lot of garden tractor rear rims and tires will fit the standard Cub's front end. Have to measure the rim's off set.

Some folks use trailer tires mounted on Cub's standard rims.

I use 4.80x12 boat trailer tires on my mowing tractor. They don't sink in as much as the ribbed tires, nor do they make marks o a sharp turns. The chain tire stores seem to be the best place to get them, last I heard they were $28 apiece mounted at our local Plaza Tire store.

The last front tires I purchased was at a Sam's Club store. If I recall correctly they were 12" and cost $12.00 or $13.00. Never hurts to shop around. Tom.

I would have to double check but I think my 154 has 20 X 8:00 X 10 flotation tires on the front. They don't steer hard.

Don't think a 12" floatation tire would steer any harder than a 3 ribbed tire.

The tires from a 154, 184, 185 will bolt right up to the F-Cub and they steer very easily. Should be easy enough to find?

With the wider tires on the front or anything with no power steering you only turn the steering wheel when the tractor is moving.

I had a '73 4x4 truck with 1100-15"
Tires and no power steering. My Popeye arms are the proof of it.

I will trade ya for a matched/like new fat fronts even up for your skinny fronts!-- be warned,--just don't drive on soft ground then do a hard turn! YA kills the motor an goes in to the axle! thanks; sonny

Been thinking about that myself. I have an extra set of CC rears to try, but with the offset, will need to squeeze the axle all the way in to get within the cutting width of the belly mower. Then, will I need to swap back to plow? If yes, probably won't be worth it. (plus the axle and bent tie rod haven't been moved since old shep was a pup)

cc rears is what mine has and even with axle full in /it wont be inside the 59 mower !---mine came with new woods 59 mower that I put on my 185 and just use this cub for butt buggy and to grade with (blade under the tractor!) ----tractor not good for anything else! thanks; sonny

Sonny, Do you, or anyone, know if the narrower rear cc wheels will fit inside the 60" deck? I have the 23 X 10.50 X 12.
6" perhaps?

mine are 23x10.50-12 and wide rims. don't have any narrow cc here to do a test fit with. thanks; sonny

I had a set of 6-12 cub cadet rear tires on the front of mine for a while. Fit like they belonged there. The problem with the 6-12 tires are that they are expensive now and if you find any decent old ones, they're too old and wont last long. Is why I don't have them on the front of my tractor any longer. I did like the way they steered and stayed on top of the mud. I thought I had more pictures, this is all I can find right now.
