Confusing fast hitch

Postby noisyone » Thu Mar 02, 2017 10:20 pm

I was given a 1967 Cub Loboy by my neighbor. I am trying to understand the fast hitch. I think someone added a bunch of extra stuff to it, and I'd kind of like to remove what was added. I'm trying to attach a picture. Any ideas?

It would probably be easier to show you what to leave on. Here are some pix of a FH on a Loboy. http://www.tmtractor.com/tm-tractor/gim ... ht_001.htm
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Hi,
Welcome to the website. Here are some pics from Cub LoBoy owner's manuals of the Fast Hitch. The first pic is from the 1959 manual, but is clearer to see than the second pic, from the 1965 manual. Both pics have the same number, so no changes in the hitches probably. The 1965 had the square hood at the front.
It looks like you are missing the Diagonal Link from your hitch. Also the top 2 pins are gone and it has bolts there, I think. The left pin is special for use with the diagonal link.
Below are pages from the Cub, and LoBoy parts manual also. :)

Thank you all for your replies. I wonder why mine doesn't have the diagonal link.

It looks like someone added all that square tubing to mine to stabilize the main pull bar. Without it, does the bar sway left and right alot?

Yes, it does. Put a wanted ad in The Vine. Someone may have an extra they want to sell.

What is the diagonal link for? Strength or stabilization or something else?

Diagonal link can be fixed or allowed to 'float'. You let it float with moldboard plow or disc, for instance. I use it in fixed position if I'm using blade to clean a ditch out, for instance. Not limited to just those uses, of course

Hi,
The diagonal link makes the hitch solid from side to side, when it's lock bolt, in the owner's manual pic, is tight. When the lock bolt is loosened, the hitch can move sideways some. :)

Well I took it all off, weighed about 75 pounds. Might need to fabricate some kind of cross brace so it doesn't sway. Thanks for all the answers to my questions.

Ok, thanks. I will keep that in mind once I dive in and see how all this stuff works.
