What does a lift pump do and why would there be one on my loader tractor

Are you taking fuel or hydraulics? Or a water pump driven off the pto? Also, which model tractor?

I assume you mean the hyd. pump that raises the loader? It pumps the oil into the lift cyls. on the lift arms and bucket.---Without one,--you have NO loader power.----as was asked, what model tractor and what is the problem???? thanks; sonny
