Hood with 3rd and 4th coat of primer - before and after wet sanding. It has come out very nice and smooth as babies bottom with the 2nd 400 Grit Wet Sand.

Well gents and you lady folk members - here are pix of the 3rd and 4th coat. Note to self - Paint outside in the morning before the little bugs come out. I was there with a steady and a mild bit of cursing between coats. :D :D :D I am rather pleased that you can see the color of the clouds in the tank. This might work out after all.

Looking real good Ken!!! Just a few words of caution. You're putting on quite a few coats of paint, rather quickly. If you've got it looking good, you might want to stop for a while and make sure they all cure really good before trying any more. One of the things that can happen to paint if it's layered too quickly is the layers won't dry evenly, and it can cause cracking. Another problem that I have often found is that I've had a hood looking really good, good enough to be VERY happy with, but decided to do "just one more coat!" That "one more coat" turned out crappy, and ended up being sanded down and painted several times again, to end up with a finish that was worse than the coat that looked really good. I guess what I'm saying is, if it looks good, you may not want to mess with it any more!!!

I agree with Bill. Stop while you're ahead. Remember, they only got one coat at the factory. :D

Worked with Cecil on Saturday morning and got the Rex '48 engine as far as we could with the parts I had brought to his shop. I took it home in a BOX, along with his engine lift, clutch finger jig and alignment tool. When the rain stopped I got the engine out of the bed of the truck, got the clutch, adjusted aligned and mounted.

I installed the PAN on Cecil's advice before mating to the bell housing. On about the 6th try I actually got it bolted to the bell housing. Then there was the throwout bearing issue in another post - that's all set. I cleaned it - primed it and painted it IH 2150 Red. Here's the way I left it last evening. Can't tough it now as I in a plane on the way to Denver. :(

Next weekend it will be on all fours......Special Thanks to Cecil for taking his Saturday morning to get this ready to come home. :thanx: :thanx: :thanx:
