I don't think IH kept records like that. I think the only way to find all that out is an original owner with receipt.

Business and individuals are only required to keep records for 6 or 7 years. Any thing beyond the requirement for holding records are normally trashed.

My dad and I owned a gas station. Records were stored in my dad's basement. At the end of 7 years, the records filled a good portion of the basement.
I have an excuse. CRS.

You could do a search on this site for the serial number. I found early postings by a former owner on my cub that filled in a portion of the history.

The only way is to go to the person you bought it from and hope they remember/recorded who they bought it from. Then go to that person, assuming they're still alive, and hope they remember/recorded who they bought it from. Proceed along that path until you come to the original owner, and when you find the original owner, provided they're still around, hope they have the original sales receipt from when they bought the tractor new.

The person i bought it from bought it in 1962, he's 89 years old and does not remember who they got it from. It was just some good information i would like to have known. I know it's a 1947 and i was born in 1947. that's one of the reasons i bought it. Thanks for the information.

I want for change my fuel sedment bowl to a fuel filter. There was a post about this some time ago and my question is the thread on the nipple going into the tank fine or regular?

The thread on the tank is NPT (tapered pipe thread). I believe the size is 3/8.

You can run both. The sediment filter (screen at the top by the tank) and the water separator (glass bowl) helps keep water and trash out of the carb. Any trash that gets past the sediment filter gets caught by the inlet screen of the carb.
A filter was not OEM, but if you choose to use one, get one that works with gravity feed (low pressure). This also typically pushes you to use a rubber fuel line which needs replacement every decade or so.
There are many various opinions out there. I have kept the water separator and have a rubber fuel line and filter on my tractor, and others on this forum prefer the metal fuel line to reduce the risk of leaks and fire. An underslung exhaust runs pretty close to the fuel line so I understand the desire for a metal fuel line.

Don't know if NAPA has one that would work, but TM Tractor, one of the site sponsors has this;

Probably asking about NAPPA for instant access to it and to save shipping costs.

Also to answer availability questions , you can find them on eBay and amazon all day long. Even if you have to buy the whole assembly to get it, it's not that much.
