The PO of my Lowboy told me he replaced the clutch just before I bought it and from looking in the access hole it appears the TO bearing has not been lubed. I reviewed past threads and it says to use “cheap grease” and not hi-temp grease. Not exactly sure what that means and not really interested in doing a lot of grease research so, I have inexpensive Walmart Super Tech General Purpose Lithium Grease. Is this a good choice for the TO bearing?
Thanks

Re: Cheap Grease
What you are after is grease without additives, just plain grease. That means no lithium, molybdenum, or any other additive.

Re: Cheap Grease
The cheapest you can find the better. What you actually want is for the grease to heat up and break down. In doing so the oil will somewhat separate, in doing so it soaks through the graphite lubricating it. Hi dollar grease won't separate with heat like cheap stuff will.

Re: Cheap Grease
I use the little 3 ounce guns you find for about $15 including a tube of grease, in Walmart, NAPA, Autozone, etc. The grease for them is what is needed for throw out bearing, and the gun allows greasing the bearing with a belly mower mounted.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Re: Cheap Grease
With clutch splines and pilot bearing and the throwout bearing guide we put white grease. Just a Little will do.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.
