Replacing lower water hose

Postby Clubless » Fri Jan 11, 2019 12:07 am

Planning to flush out radiator and engine block and replace hose. I have read a number of threads on the subject, but not clear on whether or not it is necessary to remove the magneto/distributor in order to get bolt out that’s behind it.

:thanx:

It may be possible to do it without removing the mag/dist but it's probably easier to take it off. Just make sure you don't turn the mag/dist or the engine and it should be as simple as taking it off/bolting it back on. You may want to set your engine on #1TDC just in case something does get turned.

There is a nozzle that is recommended that I used to flush the block. It is for RV water tanks search on google "Water Heater Tank Rinser- RV Water Heater". It fits on a hose and helps get into the block.

$7-$10 on Amazon or if you have an RV place near by it will have it.

If it is warm enough and you have a pressure washer I was able to get a short nozzle gun in and that also flushed a lot out of the lower block.
When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!

No need to take off the distributor. Can take off the cap if you want. Just makes it easier if the distributor was out of the way.
