Winter

Postby Donegal Cub » Wed Jan 30, 2019 8:38 am

Hi All, we have had our first snow fall of the winter, temperatures -4/6Cel. Looking at our news bulletin the temperature in the Mid West and around your Great Lakes are horrible and very dangerously low -20 to -40 Cel with heavy snowfall. I hope all our forum members affected stay safe and stay indoors. At those low temperatures frostbite will take effect in minutes.
Bernard,
Donegal Cub.

Michigan is on lock down as well. Our Governor has issued a state of emergency and only essential personal are requested to be on the roads. I'm going to have to get out in it at some point today to plow the driveway. That should be interesting. I've never done that before in -40 windchills...

The Kansas City metro area is on the western fringe of the deep freeze; worse to the north and northeast of us. It's -6 deg F here this morning; no snow.

Bernard, how much snow did you all receive in Donegal, Ireland?

Your area is forecasted to be near 40 deg F on Saturday...hang in there! Supposed to be 55 deg F here on Sunday!

It's clear up to zero here in my part of Michigan.
If the snow was not so deep getting to them , it would be fun to see how the tractors start.

Found my extension cord for the charger (un plugged after last weeks making sure both tractors batteries were charged) ) with the truck plow yesterday...

My area in SE Michigan has reached it's high temp of -8ºF (-22ºC) for today and it will steadily fall to -18ºF (-28ºC) this afternoon. Wind chills are near -40ºF. But you guys in MN, WI, and IA have the worst of it.

A balmy 11* here in Colorado when I walked the dog. I hope we don't hear about too many tragedies with the cold weather.

It's currently -19 and the wind if whipping. Not sure what t he windchill is but its a good day to stay indoors. Unfortunately I have to get out and push the snow. I think my Cub will start. She's never let me down yet even in subzero weather....

My cub is rigged for snow plowing, chains snow blade etc. and I used it earlier in the winter, but I don't care how much it snows, with temperatures running close to 0F at night and highs from 10F to 25F along with 15 to 25 mph winds I ain't getting it out. I am getting old with a lot of aches and pains, and it is just setting in the shed with a battery tinder on it till warmer weather shows up. I was raised driving a Farmall H across these fields with no wind break in the winter and nearly getting frost bight while feeding cattle. I have no desire to go back to the "GOOD OLE DAYS". They were not that good.

With the predicted highs for this weekend, I would just wait until the snow melts - near 60 by Sunday. Gotta love Missouri weather.
