Cultivator price and parts question

Postby Ahab01 » Thu Jan 31, 2019 12:52 pm

I am in the market for a set of cultivators for my cub, but I don't know much about them. I am asking for someone more knowledgeable than me to please take a look at this craigslist add and let me know if this is in fact a complete set and if the price seems reasonable.

They do look complete but like BSR said, that’s twice as much as they’re worth. Sometimes a non runner with cultivators can be bought for $700 or a lot less.

Thanks for the replies. I thought it seemed a bit steep. I was just hoping to find a set close to home for a reasonable price.

Complete set is 350-500. Depends what all is there. Disc hillers? Spring tines? Crop sheilds? I wouldn't pay over 500 for one that has EVERYTHING. And I mean all the extras including what I mentioned. Don't go.get a set piece by piece either. You will pay alot in the end doing that.

Too much, I have 2 sets and have bought and resold maybe 12 sets. Never paid more than $350. Average was $300. Like Jase said it would need to include everything, hillers, shields and not pay over 5 bills. I would not consider buying that incomplete set for anything more than $325

If you do not get price down, you can come to Kansas and get one for $300.00

Hi,
Below is the Cub 144 Cultivator owner's manual, from 1965. It has much info, your can learn some about it before buying one.
You don't use the manual lift shown in it, if you have Touch Control.

http://farmallcub.com/rudi_cub/www.clea ... index.html

Below are pics from TM Tractor of the cultivator parts. Down the pages it shows them on a tractor.

Below are pics of the rear cultivator parts, they don't show the tools on the bars, they use tools like the front has, usually 1 per side.

Hello,

I just bought my first cub yesterday here in Texas, will be delivered tomorrow night due to trailer problems. It came with a pallet of cultivator parts, but no sweeps or shanks. Think I have two sets of fronts and no rear cultivator arms. Are the shanks and sweeps common across other Farmall tractors or specific to the Cub?

Hi,
Welcome to the website.
Jim Becker or someone else on here probably knows about the cultivator parts.

Look at the Cub's serial number plate, and get the serial number, then you can figure out what year the Cub is, with the serial number list at the top of the page at Cub Info.
Then you can read the owner's manual for as near to the year it is as they have here.
The manuals are also at Cub Info, then go to Rudi's Manuals.
They have said on here that IH didn't make a new manual every year, so use the closest that there is.
The owner's manual has much info about operation, maintenance, and lubrication. They have pics of how Cubs originally looked also.
Below is a page from a Cub owner's manual showing where the serial number is. Sometimes the plate is gone, or painted over by someone.

http://farmallcub.com/rudi_cub/www.clea ... age-02.jpg

There is an engine serial number also, it is not the same as the tractor serial number, except when they started making Cubs, early in 1947 production. :)
