Paint on a 77 model Cub

Postby Ben B » Fri Mar 29, 2019 12:00 pm

I have a question. I have a red 77 longstripe. How would it have been painted underneath the hood area from the factory? Would the alternator, starter, wiring harness, and pretty much everything have been painted red? This one was originally yellow, and all those things still show where they'd been yellow at some time.

Also, what color would the rear wheel pans, wheel weights, and front wheels have been? I've seen some painted red, and some painted IH white. I'm just curious how they were when they left the factory.

Thanks!
Ben

Here's an original for sale on here, looks like the rear rims would have been galvanized and the rest is red.

I have a late model 184 and there are parts that are yellow with red overspray on it. (Like the top of the gas tank that is hidden by the hood).
I have no idea if it is, but it looks to be original.

Here are pics of my 77. It is all original paint except the blade and the wheel weights. Also, I did paint the manifold and exhaust pipe with Black Velvet high temp paint from POR-15, when I had the carb off and rebuilt.
