3 Point Hitch

Postby jdp8402 » Mon Apr 15, 2019 12:16 am

I was wondering if anyone has one of these 3 point kits for their cub? And if you like it?

What kind of weight capacity can be expected with something like this? I have a 3 point box scraper that I would like to use with the cub and I was wondering if it will work.

I used it with a TO20 Ferguson and it handled it pretty well but I believe that it's double the horsepower. I've been looking for a 54A blade for years with no luck. If I could find one of those I wouldn't be worried about a 3 point.

Thanks,
Jeff

I wouldn't want more than 250--300 pounds at most on the cub. I modified a 1-row jd cultivator to use on my homemade 3-pt., and it wouldn't lift it, so I changed the linkage and it lifted it BUT things were strained past the limit, so I only used it one time then quit.
The conversion that you are looking at don't have long enough bottom pull arms.--The geometry looks way off. --It might work, but not what you want to do with it. The 5' box blade would be , in my opinion going beyond the cub limits.--- The blade is heavier than my cultivator and that is what I am going by. Had I not tried it I couldn't say, but from what I found---- it's asking too much from a cub. thanks; sonny

Thanks for the reply. I guess I'll just have to keep looking for a belly blade.

Have you tried posting a wanted ad in the VINE?

No I have not but I’ll give it a try. The biggest problem that I run into if I do find one is that it’s to far away for me to drive and no one is willing to ship.

If you find one, you might even get lucky to get transportation via a request on the CUB EXPRESS sub forum!

And of course, give Craigslist a shot. Good luck!

Jeff,
You might try sending a PM to muleboss in Burlington, KS to see if he has 54A blade. I know it is about 5 hours away, but if Bob has one, you could come to the Kansas Cubfest at his place to pick it up. Kansas Cubfest is May 4th this year.

I ended up adapting a 52" blade for an ATV to the cultivator Universal Mounting Frame to belly mount it on my Cub. Works okay in light snow and the UMF springs provide some give if I hit something. Which is what I had in mind in the first place. It's not as heavy duty as the Cub 54 blade, but then I don't need it to be either.

I did build a 3 point hitch pretty much from scratch but it's just mainly to use a 2" hitch receiver adaptor so I can use a carry platform or hitch up to my utility trailer. The 3 point works fine and will hold more than the Cub can lift, but I believe that something simpler would do the job just as well or better. Someone on here posted a pic of a lift hitch he built using the factory Cub drawbar as a starting point and that's what I'm looking at now.
Waking up the ol' Cub

Nah, it's not leaking oil. It's just marking it's territory.
