Gas tank cleaning

Just bought my first cub. 1952. What is the best way, and products to use to clean gas tank? I put bolts in, rattled around and got most of the liaise stuff out. Then put in two gallons of vinegar and the bolts again. A lot came loose but still not as clean as I think it needs to be. Any suggestions appreciated.

I just cleaned 1, using vinegar. Put 4 gallons in it,let it set for 2 days then swish it around a bit.every two day for 2 weeks,came out nice.

I use muriatic acid, rinse it out good after its clean with baking soda to neutralize the acid

I'm currently cleaning my tank with a gallon jug of WD-40 Specialist Rust Remover Soak. Been in there 2 days and I'm seeing some really decent results. I hear Evaporust works too but Lowes only had the WD-40 kind. Non-toxic & non-caustic so it's really easy to deal with.

got r dun, It had been setting for about 4 years and was all dried up with a bunch of gunk. Used bolts rattled around, vacuumed out, put in 3 gal of vinegar, and bolts sloshed around for about 3 hours. drained, and still a bunch left, then put in muratic acid 1 qt per gallon of water, filled to the top. let set for 3 hours swished around and drained. Used baking soda water mix, a couple of gallons drained and sprayed with hose. Looked really good, sprayed the inside with wd-40. Put on the next day, and the cub started!
