1958 Farmall Cub

Postby Warrigol » Wed Apr 24, 2019 11:10 pm

Hello:

Wondering if anyone has had luck soldering a cracked radiator reservoir on the Cub? Previous owner must have filled the radiator with water, not antifreeze and the reservoir cracked over the winter.

Thanks
Billy

Are you referring to the top tank or the lower bolster? The top tank could be soldered but the lower reservoir (bolster) will require brazing or welding. Many bolster cracks have been repaired with J B Weld, with acceptable results.

check the top of the cylinder head also, the bolster gets cracked because someone left water with no antifreeze in it and it freeze cracks, that is the thinnest part of the castings, that and top of the cylinder head
