Using Jim Becker's advice I referenced TC-37D Rev 1 12-54 and learned that 363-654-R91 and 363-655-R91 both came with 520-160-R1 helper spring, 520-157-R1 helper spring anchor and 520-163-R91 spring rod. The 363-654-R91 is FH complete for Cub serial numbers 501 thru 185000, the 363-655-R91 for 185001 and thereafter. The TC rockshaft upgrade is called out as required for 363-654-R91 but is not included with the FH top level assembly. So yea, the helper spring and associated parts were included as per the documentation in both cases. Thanks all for the help on this.

I placed a couple of images of the fast hitch here. I see that I am missing the helper spring assy, detent stiffener bracket,
lift link insert and the long pin for the detent linkage to bail. Am I missing anything else ? Also, please look at the lift link, is it bent ? Thanks:

Here is a sketch of the quadrant brace. Yes, your rod is bent.

Hi,
Below is a page from the 1955 Cub owner's manual, showing the lift rod, you can see most of the shape it has going from end to end. :)

Agreed, the link looks bent. I am still waiting on the supplier to send some of the missing parts so will contact them on the progress and the bent link observation.

Thanks

Hi,
Something else for the Fast Hitch was the reinforcement at the left fender, for the assist spring bracket.

Below is a pic, the reinforcement is welded onto the fender. I think it has small spot welds, not sure though. :)

Well today I got a couple of the missing parts from the supplier. I got the rockshaft bushing and the drawbar lift linkage pin. I was also sent extra lift linkages which I don't need but the detent brace which was with the unit when being packed is now nowhere to be found at their shop. I haven't yet gotten back to the aspect of no helper spring. What do you think, should I call the credit card company and hold back funds at this point ?

If I were to purchase the fast hitch helper spring, spring rod and spring bracket in good condition, how much should I pay for this set of parts ?

No more than 100-125. Of course, location does factor in

To close this out, I got the supplier, JP Tractor Salvage to supply the fast hitch helper spring, rod and bracket. They agreed to supply these initially, but didn't include them with the unit upon delivery. Per their understanding the helper spring was not included on early fast hitches and is not needed. With the help of you folks, I referred them to this topic on the Cub list and they shipped me the helper spring. Missing the fender bracket which they claimed they had and forgot to ship, these folks have now have gone radio silence on me. Was not a good experince working with those folks. Thanks for the help from you folks on this.

Paul,
The fender reinforcement is tack welded to the fender. Somewhere between 1/8"-3/16" thick. Shouldn't be too hard to make.

The helper spring bracket was revised at some point to be angled so the helper spring rod would go through the hole in the bracket perpendicular to the hole. The early version the rod went through the bracket at an angle causing excessive wear on one side of the rod and "oblonging" the hole. Even with the new one, I dab some grease on it a couple of times per year. Keeps it quiet too!
