Good evening I decided to have a look under the head for curiosity and plans of a rebuild I have never seen the inside of a motor and do not know if this view is bad or real bad The cost up here to have it rebuilt is quite expensive but it has an attraction that makes an eventual Grandson's ride worth it

it appears that the repair is not leaking on the head, if I had another head that was not repaired I would prefer it over the welded one

Hi,
It doesn't look that bad to me, it has some carbon buildup.

You didn't say if the engine burns oil. :)

Ricky sounds like you did it right I never skimp on engine rebuilds. Do it right, do it once and forget about it.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

Hi,
BJM68, below is a post I wrote on with info about putting a head on a Cub engine.

The head bolts need sealer on the threads. The info is at my first post, part way down the page. :)

One thing I should note is I shopped around for the best pricing on the machine work for this rebuild. Prices varied quite a bit. Spending a few minutes on the phone saved me probably well over $100. There are 3 engine shops in my area. I ended up getting the best deal from a shop that has been owned and operated by the same family for over 40 years. Very knowledgeable people. I was very happy with their work.
