57 Cub ft wheel bearing
While going thru the ft end on my 57 Cub I found very bad wheel bearings on 1 side. When I went to take it apart I had to cut off the inner bearing. Is this a common problem? I also noticed that there was no washer between the nut and the outer bearing. I have not been able to find a listing for the washer. Is there supposed to be one? If so can I make one? The dimensions to make one would be helpful.

Re: 57 Cub ft wheel bearing
the inner bearing is pressed on to the spindle, also check to see if the seal and felt dust ring are good, leave the seal alone if it is good as they are pricey and that is pressed on also, yes there is a washer between the outer bearing and nut, some one left it off in the past, ih part # 350768r1 for the washer,

Tim, I think that part # is for the felt dust ring.

Re: 57 Cub ft wheel bearing
looks like you are right Bob, parts book just says washer, would have helped if it said felt washer or something like that

Hi,
Below is a page from the 1955 Cub owner's manual, showing greasing the front wheel bearings, and showing there is a washer under the nut.
http://farmallcub.com/rudi_cub/www.clea ... e%2023.jpg
Below are pages from the Cub parts manual showing the front axle, and the front wheel bearings.
The washer is listed with the spindle, at number 16 in the description, on the 2nd page.
I think it is the last washer at the 2nd number 16, it gives the size and part number there.
The spindles were changed at the serial number shown.
A 1957 Cub should have the 2nd number 16 in the pic, with the clamp type steering arm at the top of them.
If the Cub has a washer at the other side, under the nut, you could measure it.

Tim, the washer you wrote the part number of above, is shown at number 17 on the parts page above.
It says it is felt there.
