You'll also be amazed how much information you'll get from some members here just from pictures, they have a lot of knowledge here... My cubs wouldn't be running if it wasn't for this forum....

Re: Confusion about year of my cub
I have a 78 Cub that was originally underslung. A previous owner converted it to vertical. I converted it back to original configuration.

The doglegs indicate an early style Cub.

Re: Confusion about year of my cub
Hi,
The Cub looks like it is painted like a yellow and white Cub would be.
The pic of the date code and part number above show it is a Touch Control block made in 1950.
They didn't use that part number of Touch Control block in 1972.
If you sit down by the serial number plate, and use a light, you might be able to read the serial number, it is stamped in the plate.
There is also 1800, the engine maximum speed stamped in the plate, if it is a 1950 Cub.
The serial number should have 5 or 6 numbers.

The serial number plate is stamped. Clean off the paint and get a pencil rubbing.
- Put a piece of thin paper over the plate and scribble up and down. The serial number may show up better in the pencil.

Also an R1 block, I'd say it's a 1950.

Re: Confusion about year of my cub
Sounds like 1950 is the consensus! Thanks again everybody. I’m sure I’ll have some mechanical and parts questions in the future.
