Well guys I think I have it whipped. I pulled the carb back off and started checking. As I said earlier I didn't adjust the float the first time since it was running so good. The float closed was off about 1/8" and the drop was off almost 1/4".
I readjusted the control rod and started it. It was better. Had some throttle control. Made 4 more adjustments and it seems pretty close. I should get a tach on it now for tweaking.
Thanks to all that gave me guidance. I think I'll claim victory and call it good for today.
