The hook releases the catch on the fast hitch point. With it you don't have to get off the tractor.

Tab under the seat? Thought that was for the rope to unhook.

Cub didn't come with a hook to pull the Fast-Hitch latch.

I have a piece of rope from the tab under the seat down to the hole in the release.

I didn’t think it did. I have seen folks with ‘aftermarket’ ones, but never saw the need for one. Just something to store on the tractor. I just raise implement and reach back and lift the latch by hand

Re: fast hitch hook - where is it stored?
Just for clarification, there could be two hooks so we need to know which one we're talking about. There was this hook used to hold up the fasthitch and allow for other belly implements to be used separately, part number 456849R1

and some people also made on their own a longer hook with handle bent on one end and 90 bent on the other so you could reach down and release the lever without getting off the cub. No pics sorry.

How does the 456849R1 hook work ? It seems that you would have to disconnect the Fasthitch from the Touchcontrol ??? I have never seen one. Where did you get them ?

There’s a hole in the pull bar where you attach it. I just leave mine there and when I need it, raise the hitch and it hooks onto the rockshaft. All you have to do is slide the collar forward on the lift rod far enough and let the rod freely slide back and forth when operating hydraulics. Comes in handy when I want to mount the sickle mower. Post an ad here on the forum. That’s how I got mine. I see Peter types faster than me.

Leo. There's a couple old posts with gobs of information, here's one http://www.farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=60272&hilit=fast+hitch+hook
The one's I duplicated happened to fit perfect into the latch to lock it in place, a dual purpose, but Jim cleared up the debate with the later open latch produced by IH.

A plow clevis works great to hold up the fast hitch drawbar if you don't have one of those hooks. That's the twisted clevis.

Re: fast hitch hook - where is it stored?
As for the hook to open the fast hitch clip, on my Farmall Super C tractor there is a sheet metal clip on top of the hydraulic reservoir where this handle/hook goes, with the handle to the rear next to the steering wheel support and extending across the top of the hydraulic reservoir and farther forward up under the gas tank. But of course, on the Cub this area is blocked by the rear of the tank/instrument panel. The only place left would be on top of the foot tray. and it seems to me I have seen one of those spring clips on a Cub tractor somewhere. But it also could have been used for the crank starter.
