Was running along fine and then....
Was out bush hogging for 15 mins with the Klipper and the engine started to falter a bit and then correct itself. It did it a couple more times and then died. I waited a minute and it started up fine. A couple minutes later again it died...waited and then started fine. I decided I didn't want it dead a half mile from the trailer with a bike path from the field to the trailer. Got her on the trailer after 10 restarts.
I should check a couple of things first from past experiences and postings: fuel flow to the carb and the jet holes being blocked. Any other things pop to mind? Maybe coil or the VR (looking for an excuse to convert to 12V)? Thanks

If it was the coil, it usually takes a longer rest before restarting. I'd blame fuel, since I hate the modern gasoline.

If it is fuel, I will have to find a way to convince Eunice that the VR and Generator are somehow connected to the carb to do the 12V conversion!

Just curious, what are you treating it with and why?

Gas flow. Check out fuel cap venting...clean it up. Check out gas filter and clear as needed. See if gas flows through the line to the carb? Been there on all of these.
Otherwise, if VR and 6v, just to let you know that I'm over the moon pleased with the USA made VR from Brillman along with a battery maintainer...with 6v and all winter long.

Re: Was running along fine and then....
My Cub did that to me on Sunday! Come to find out, both the sediment bowl screen and the carb screen were clogged with rust flakes from the tank. I replaced both screens yesterday evening and finished up the last 1/2 acre of cultivating with no issues. You might check those two areas out before jumping into the electrical. Most folks forget about the little round screen in the carburetor it seems. And, you can't buy them separately that I've found. Mine was trashed anyway, so I made one out of the old sediment bowl screen after cleaning it up. Seems to work just fine.
As far as the 12v conversion, you don't need an excuse. Just do it! I did mine last year, and for less than $100.00 too. Used a Delco 10si alternator and did my own wiring harness. It's not restoration quality by any means, but it works, and charges. I'm bad to not use the starter though. Prefer to hand crank it. It'll start the 3rd of 4th pull cold, and the 1st pull hot 99% of the time. Sounds silly, I know.

TM Tractor and McDonald Carb both sell the carb inlet screens.

I was unaware of that, Bob. Thank you for pointing that out. I'll file that away for next time, since my home-made one seems to be doing ok right now.

Re: Was running along fine and then....
Rather than digging into the fuel system (or even the ignition system) do some checking to narrow the problem down to one or the other. When the engine quits, immediately pull a spark plug wire and check for a spark. You can narrow the problem down to one area or the other and don't even need to open the tool box. Granted, the symptoms sound like fuel. But it only takes a minute verify you are on the right path.
