Old action photo
I found this photo today. This is my grandfather using the Cub to grade a driveway in the early 80's. It's a 1947 Cub. The tractor was repainted sometime in the 1970s and they stuck the later model decals on. I thought it was interesting. He bought the machine new in '47 after returning home from the war and it was used at the greenhouse until I inherited it.

Looks like grandpa is grading right along. Very cool picture, and the tractor looks great now.

Interesting blade setup. Looks like it attaches to the rear and is lifted with cultivator lift arms near the front axle. Kinda neat. Do you know if it was home made?

It was home made. I think he had it welded up by a local machine shop. It was a clever design but the blade was scrapped sometime in the 90s. I remember it was leaning upright against the barn wall for years until we just had to get rid of it. It was pretty bent up and not really usable anymore.
When I was taking the cultivator arms apart to paint the shanks that the blade mounted to were still in place.

Re: Old action photo
Somewhat unrelated but it was stored with the Cub picture above. My father in about 1950 standing on an Allis Chalmers G. Hard to make out but on the door of the delivery vehicle it says "Hudson Flower Shop" and "Phone No. 9". They had some larger equipment like M's and H's but the only photos that seem to have survived were of the Cub and the G. What a contraption those G's were. Interesting nonetheless and they did the job.
An interesting story occurred with that tractor. In the late 60s it had sat in the barn for a few years. One morning, my grandfather, the one grading the driveway above, decided to get the G running again. Along with my father they got it running that morning and drove it out of the barn and brought it up near the house. That very afternoon the barn burned to the ground from an electrical fire.
