1948 Cub

Postby Masmith » Fri Jul 10, 2020 10:35 pm

I went to look at a Cub today and it wasn't quite what I was looking for. However, this one was parked in the back of the building. It wasn't as shiny as the other one so I guess they thought no one would like it. After getting it for a great price, I winched it on the trailer and drove off. The gas tank was empty and very clean so I topped it off on the way home. Quick check of the oil and it fired right up. I used it for about an hour with some very simple issues that were easily fixed. It came with the original manuals and repair receipts dating from the 70's. It has had the rear main replaced along with points and various other things done. The receipt for the C3 mower deck was there also. 1968 for $290

I will be looking for a grill and a wiring harness. The lights do not work.

Congratulations on your find, they don't often come as good as that. :{_}: I would suggest you change all the fluids and do a wee tune up before you do much work with it. :hattip:

That was the plan in the beginning, but once it started up and ran so good, I couldn't resist playing with the new toy. lol. It will get a lot more attention this week.

Nice Cub. Be sure to look over "what to do with a cub you just brought home". There's lots of things you may not think of. I have brought home several and forgot about servicing the fan. Glad another member remained me on that.

Enjoy your cub and above all be safe.
