cub 22 mower question
One knife clip on my mower is too high. The owners manual says "The knife clips should be set to hold the sections down against the ledger plates, but must allow the knife to run freely." It says nothing on how to do this so should I use my way, a big hammer? Vern

Re: cub 22 mower question
Hi,
Be careful to not get hold down clips too tight against the knife bar, If you tighten them so the knives are snug against the leger plates, when the mower is let down to level ground, I have found that when you raise up the bar, the knives are too tight, and bind when the mower is running, because the bar bends down, or is curved down along it's full length, when it is raised.
Check to see that the mower runs ok with the bar lifted, as you are tightening the clips.

Re: cub 22 mower question
When I restored my c-22 those clips were worn down soOoo so much. I opted for adjustable clips... snug a bolt I think 1/64 clearance at the ledger plate and go mow! Big hammer and pipe to adjust individual rock guards for a single ledger...

Re: cub 22 mower question
I took Glens warning to heart and placed thin piece of metal under the clip and then hammered the clips. It was mowing quite well anyway but one clip had about 3/16ths of an inch clearance. Thanks all. Vern
