Engine serial number can put it close.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Hi,
Below is a post I made telling about casting codes, you can identify if the castings on the Cub are all the same year. It is the 2nd post on the page.
Sometimes if the Cub was built at the beginning of the year, it could have 1 or more castings from the year before.

Below is a page from the 1950 Cub operator's manual, showing where the engine serial number is.
