Picked up a FH and installed on tractor. Looks like the hand adjust is backwards according to manual. Will this setup work ok?

Tim,
Change it, unless you want that crank knob poking you in the back or denting up the seat. Simple fix that involves hairpin clips and pins. You might want to put a floor jack pull bar or, better yet, a jack stand under each side. You will only be switching the two vertical pieces.
