6 volt battery

Postby Qtr Milr » Sun Sep 20, 2020 9:56 am

For those of us that refuse to convert to 12 volts, where is the best place to get a 6 volt battery that will actually fit in the battery box??

Any group 1 battery should fit. If you can find one for a Karman Ghia that will fit even better.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

I like Deka or HiTech, both made by East Penn Mfg. We use them in my 6v Farmalls and our newer tractors and they seem to have excellent longevity and tend to run a little cheaper than other batteries.

I just had to purchase one for my Cub. I stopped by Tractor supply and they were out. I went to Oreillys and they had one in stock. A group 1 is what fits great. The only problem was I havent purchased one in years and the sticker shock almost put me in heart failure. It was between 95-100 dollars. If you dont go to either of those places then you should be able to go to most any auto supply stores. Good luck.

I have been using group 1 or 19Ls which is a little smaller but has lower cranking amps. As Baryward said the 19L are for 6 volt VWs. both will fit in the battery box with the lid on.

I have NAPA 6V batteries in a Cub and a 130. The batteries are made For NAPA by East Penn. I’ve had good luck with them.

So far, Paul and Ringo have arrived. John and George were supposed to follow ages ago, but apparently have gone awol. Long story.

As much as I try to avoid Walmart, batteries are one thing I’ll go there for. Significantly the best price each time I’ve shopped around.

I haven't seen 6v Walmart batteries. But for 12v Walmart can't be beat. They last too!

Batteries and bulbs has them and there regularly $85, but you often can get 10% off or is it 15%?

But yea most big auto parts stores have them, just order online if you go that route cause I bet they only keep one or two in stock if at all and if you go when it was just bought your SOL. But as mentioned Tractor supply has them and Agrisupply has them if you have one near you.

Around here, Fleet-Farm has them at a relatively good price (~$60 as I recall). Blain's is about the same if you are near them.

Rural King in Kendallville and Fort Wayne sell them for $49.00 but they are out of stock.
