Oil cup j4 magneto

Need to replace the oil cup on the magneto.
Cap has broken off the oil cup.

Which oil cup should in order.
1/4” or 5/16”?

I'm pretty sure you need the 1/4" Scott.

Any tricks or tips for removing old and installing new oil cup?

Removal is fairly easy, I have used a pair of cutting pliers to "grab" the cup and pull/twist it out. They are just pressed in. For install, find a drift, back end of a drill bit, wooden dowel, etc. the exact size of the inside of the cup. There's a small ledge that you want to push against. Then just push/tap it in.

Could you put a little rubber cap on it. Like one for an automotive vacuum line. Quick easy and be done with it. Yep I know it's not the correct way and correct part but some people that doesn't bother. Just throwing another idea out there.

I have a .25 auto case on mine. Snug fit with a cool factor.
