I have a 61 cub with a 6 V charging system. The ammeter doesn't show any movement, when the tractor is running. How do I determine the generator and regulator are working properly, or maybe it is the ammeter meter that doesn't work.
Thanks in advance
Gary

Re: Check generator
You could try using a volt meter and check volts on the battery + and - with it off and see if the volts are higher while its running

Re: Check generator
I like this tester/ meter. It checks the battery and the charging system and is easy to read.
Here is a post on how to use a voltmeter to go through your system http://www.farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=38133
If your battery is charged the ammeter will read 0. Turn on your lights with the engine off the meter should go negative. let is sit for a bit. Start the cub and turn the lights on to see if it charges.

When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!
