Morning all.
Was removing a C3 mower from cub last night in preparation for installing a new to me early fast hitch. Found a couple of problems I need help with.
1 - the installation instructions show attaching the helper spring to the internal rock shaft. Problem is my tractor only has single arm per side no inner rock shaft. Do I have to find the two piece and swap?
2 - the older style hitch leveling lever attaches to front ridghtbfi al drive tapped bosses. My bottom right cast boss is cracked off with only a few threads accessible.

Re: Fast hitch Installation
1. If you decide to find the rockshaft for the FH, make sure you get the bearings also. The diameter increased from 1 1/4" to 1 3/8" so the rockshafts are not interchangeable. Depending on your intended use, you could also consider welding on the arm for the FH rod.
2. No easy fix for the broken boss that I know of. If the front set of holes is good on both sides, you could swap the finals left to right. It might be easier to find a final with good threads and swap yours out.
If you go to TM Tractor (at the bottom of the page) and click on "gallery and picture archive", and then hydraulics, it shows the two rockshafts and bearings.

Re: Fast hitch Installation
Can't swap finals in this case. It would put the bad bolt hole where the fast hitch mounts...left rear.

Thanks Dale, didn't think about that. I guess a replacement is in order.

Bob
Is that the only attachment point of the helper spring?

Re: Fast hitch Installation
You can. But, you may not be able to lift as much firewood without it. You also don’t need the depth control installed to use only the platform carrier. Install it and try it without the helper spring and see if it meets your needs.

Re: Fast hitch Installation
without the helper it is hard on your hydraulics and can cause problems, the spring helps absorb the "shock" just like a shock absorber in your car

Re: Fast hitch Installation
It is doubtful that you have the fender reinforcement for the helper spring rod guide as well.

Re: Fast hitch Installation
You can modify your rockshaft and add the reinforcement for the left fender. Your existing rockshaft won't be as large of a diameter as the fast hitch rockshaft, but it can be modified.
