Touch control

Postby Noah96Hobson » Sun Jan 17, 2021 2:18 pm

I have rebuilt the pump and touch control unit and blead all the air but am still having issues with the hydraulics not working. The rock shaft will move down but will not return unless pulled back by hand and when it goes down it is very week. Any ideas on what could cause this?

how could you have bled the air if it does not work?, you bleed the system with the fill plug out while cycling the lever, 1st thing I would do is hook up a pressure gauge in the line, there is a plug for that and see if the pump is putting out the correct pressure for the touch control to work, lack of pressure problem in pump, pressure good problem in touch control

Hi,
A few Touch Controls seem to have a problem with getting an air lock in the tubes to the pump, after being drained, or rebuilding the unit.
I don't know if yours has an air lock, but you could try the info below.

After removing the filler plug, try loosening the 2 bolts that hold the tubes to the pump, and gently pry the tubes away slightly so fluid runs out.
The tubes are stiff, and don't move much.
See if fluid will run out, then tighten the bolts and try using it again.

Below is a page from the 1955 Cub operator's manual, telling how to change the fluid, refill the system, and remove the air from the system.
Be sure to do what it says in paragraph 4, to remove the air from the system. The arms should go through their full travel.
Maybe you knew already.

The arms can't be moved by hand on a Touch Control that is working right. :)
