Well you know what happens when the hood comes off. Seafoam didn’t clear up the smoking and low compression. So we took the hood off anticipating a ring job. When the head came off you could move the pistons back and forth in the cylinders with your fingers. It was off to a machine shop for some extra care. After a couple of months at the machine shop the motor is back in and it is standing on its own wheels again.
The head gasket on it was flat copper or brass. It is much thinner the American head gasket. So far I haven’t been able to source the correct points for the Ducellier distributor. I did find a Standard ignition distributor cap and rotor that fits. For now we will use an American cub distributor
John Martin is doing the work along with Mike Surbaugh. Bigdog is popping in every now and again.

Well I did stretch the truth a little. It was two and a half months.

Re: French Super Cub Progress
Hi,
Below is a website that has points and other parts for the French Cub distributor. It is in Europe, I guess.
I don't know if they ship to the USA.

Making good progress.
Glad to hear Bigdog is still around and giving advice. Haven't heard or seen anything from him for years. He and Rudi were my saviors when l first joined because of a governor issue.

Why is there never enough time to do the job right, but always enough time to do it over.

I was told that copper head gaskets can be reused and to use copper spray on them.
I found this.
