Cub does not charge
Hi Guys, I have a 54 Farmall Cub and I can't get the gage to read charge. I put a new regulator on and moved a little. I try the lights they work but the gage went to discharge and won't read charge after I shut them off. Can it be the gage itself or are they any idears you could give. Thank you Al.

Re: Cub does not charge
Did you take voltage reading with a quality meter while the tractor was running and not running?
Try that and post the readings!

Re: Cub does not charge
Thank you Sam for your reply, I put the old regulator back on , clean all contacts, and now it's charging. Voltage cold was 6.47, ran it about 5 min. and it read 6.90 to 7.08. I guess it's all o. k.. What do you think? Thanks again. Al.

Re: Cub does not charge
Hi,
That should be good.
The Cub service manual says the voltage for the 6 volt system should be 6.6 - 7.2 volts.
Below is a page from the Cub service manual showing the voltage.
The voltage regulators are shown in the table on the left side of the page.
The 1st 3 voltage regulators in the table are 6 volt regulators that were used on Cubs.
The 4th regulator is 12 volts.
