Fast Hitch

I have the chance to purchase a Fast Hitch and some implements that were used with a 1955 Cub. Will the Fast Hitch fit on my 1948 Cub? I have a Belt Pulley on my 1948 Cub, will I need to take that off to install the Fast Hitch?

It will fit and the pulley should not be in the way.
Get it, you won’t regret it! What attachments come with it? Curious

Belt pully will not work with a fast hitch.

^ for some reason I was thinking the cross link which can be removed was more forward. I also was thinking of how the pto spline was accessible to hook up our fast hitch flail mower.

Anyway - plow, disc and spring harrow are great additions to go with that fast hitch.

Hope they are reasonably priced

You’ll want two Cubs anyway. One with fast hitch and one without :)

also you should upgrade the front rockshaft as your 48 is different and lighter than the one designed to work with the fast hitch, the large pulley will not fit with a fast hitch,, maybe a smaller pulley will

You will need to take the Belt Pulley off, assuming it is this;

A drive pulley for a sickle bar mower can stay on;

Assuming you have hydraulics, the front rockshaft on a 48 Cub does not have the larger diameter shaft or the 2nd tab for the helper spring. You also probably do not have the fender reinforcement for the helper spring rod guide. Both of these can be added/changed out/modified. There are several posts on the forum.
Here is a link to TM Tractors for the early style Fast Hitch installed on a Cub.

What are you guys talkin about!

A belt pulley WILL fit With a Fast Hitch!

Mine has the factory set-up on it with a 7.5" V pulley, it is standard equipment for the C-3 belly mower used with a Fast Hitch! (Check out the c3 manual in the manual section)

A 8" pulley should fit just fine.
A 9" will probably rub the diagonal brace!

Not only will the belt pulley fit, but it WILL work for stationary belt use too.

The Fast Hitch will lower more than enough to where the belt will not hit the diagonal brace!

Enjoy your Fast Hitch if you get it!

The 48 rockshaft will work with the fast hitch but you won't be able to use the helper spring and you will be limited in how much you can lift. For the implements you've listed, that should not be a problem. You can install and use the fast hitch now, while looking for the parts to upgrade the rockshaft to the later style.

I think the belt pulley the poster is referring to is for a sickle bar mower based on their profile.

Easy enough to pop off. Or leave on, they aren’t very wide

V Belt pulley will work, large flat belt pulley will not

That is what we need to know. I always refer to the flat belt pully as an angle drive.

Dan posts some pics in this topic of his fast hitch generator set-up running off his belt pulley for the flat belt.

http://www.farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewto ... =1&t=15947

About the only pulley that will NOT work is the 7.5 / 8" tapered bar lock, if you try and put it directly on the pto shaft without the right angle gear box (belt pulley).

If all he has is a Cub-22 mower pulley, he is fine!
