Was there any particular reason why they changed from long to short ear dash?

Long ears use more metal, more metal = more cost.

Thats just my opinion though! :)

My thought, on this, is that it was changed to improve clearance for the rear rock shaft linkage. The long ear dash required a bend in the linkage rod, to clear the dash.

I”ll second what Gary said. Less clearance issues for the rock shaft linkage with short wrap dash and two less bends in the linkage rod. (=Less labor and less metal)

I could not say tractor when I was 2 years old so I called it Err Err.

I loved this tractor then and I still love it now.

Mid 1949.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Now, if anyone knows why they switched to the short governor arm, I’d like to know that answer. That was a backward move, for sure.

I have no idea.

But I wish I did know because I would know a lot more about the Cub.

And that is why I came along with y'all.

Because I Know That I Don't Know. :D
