I got an ih carb kit from McDonald carbs and it had this for the needle valve. I didn’t use it, the steel tipped one I took out looked good so I put it back in.

Re: New type of needle valve
McDonald has been selling those for several years now. I think they had so many complaints/returns on the Viton tipped needles that they worked on the new design for several years before offering them for sale. They also sell them for larger IH tractors. I always clean and reuse steel needles if they are in the carb. If they have a viton that leaks or sticks, I replace them with the new design. The price for an OEM steel needle and cage is $44.

I reused my steel needle. But the new style looks like it would be ok too. I wonder how it holds up with the ethanol gas.

I'm sure the little disc is ethanol resistant.

Re: New type of needle valve
I tried using one of those in a Farmall”M” carb. After it flooded over on 3 tear down attempts, I re-installed the original and all was fine. That was only one carb that it didn’t work in so next time may be a better result. We’ll see, I’ll give it another try at sometime.
