Put an ad in the Vine and another forum member may have one for sale. Or have yours rebuilt, they really don't wear out and need minimal parts to fix.

Several people will fix it for a cost by mail. Ship it to them and pay to ship it back.

I'd probably get someone to rebuild yours if you can't do it. If I couldn't rebuild the carb myself and didn't get it done at a Cub fest I would probably buy a cheap one off eBay before I paid $240 for one from the other companies...are they also made in China? I would think there is a good chance of it.

I agree with Bob. They don't wear out. Your on the east coast. Get ahold of Don McCombs he might be able to help as well as Bob.

Or Cecil in New York. He has a great CubFest coming up in early October.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Found a brand new IH one still in the IH box at a flea market years ago for 20 or 30 bucks.

Just fix the one you have!

Let us know what you mean by “iffy”. Try to be as specific as you can.

The threads are worn out… I mean there is no aluminum left. So where the gas goes in, I tapped it; but the threads are very thin. There were bolts holding the carb on. I ordered (from TM) the studs for the carb.. the studs slid right thru the carb.. no aluminum left!

What size tap did you use?

The inlet and the manifold bolt holes can usually be helicoiled. Other fixes are available if the holes are too enlarged for helicoils or solid inserts.

I’ve bought the carbs both ways, 1 cost over 200 bucks and eBay one for under 30 bucks. I couldn’t tell any difference between the two. So I won’t pay the over 200 bucks any more. I have to say that I kind of felt robbed. As the 200+ carb sellers wouldn’t tell you what made theirs special. Once bitten twice shy
