Welcome to the forum. There is a ton of knowledge here to assist you. On the board index page there is a “How-To” forum wit several posts on fixing governor problems. Also once you have a couple of posts, you can access all the cub manuals on line. Tell us a little more about what symptoms you are observing, and someone will offer assistance.

Greg, in my experience it is almost never the governor itself. Unless you hear something bouncing around there are a few other places to look before pulling the governor off.

First -What is the cub doing that makes you suspect the governor?

Check that the linkage is free from the throttle to the carburetor. lube the clevises and any other connections in the linkage. Check the lever on the governor to make sure it is free. Look around for cotter pins that are too long and may cause hang-ups. Good idea to replace the governor spring.

There is a procedure in the manual for adjusting the linkage between the governor and carb.

Air links between the carb and the manifold can cause the governor to hunt.

If you do decide to pull the governor it will help a great deal to save timing if you rotate the engine to #1 TDC compression before removing it. It is very important for mags but I found it helpful for distributors as well.

Guys,
I want to thank everyone who replied to my problem with my Cub always running at full throttle.Today with another Cub enthusiast (and great mechanic) we kept adjusting the yoke and nut on the throttle lever .Finally we got it just right until it ran like it should. It seemed to be a pretty fine adjustment , and in the opposite direction I thought it was supposed to go .I was using my other Cub as a reference, but I guess they are all a bit different. So , in the end , it was not the governor. THANKS!!!
