Steering rod removal from worm gear.
I am trying to remove the steering rod from the worm gear at the base assembly. I removed the two bolts and wondering what trick there is to getting the rod removed from the worm gear?
Picture attached.
Thanks.

Re: Steering rod removal from worm gear.
If you are asking how to get the worm off the steering shaft, it isn't going to happen. It is all one piece. If you are trying to get the worm disengaged from the worm wheel, just turn the shaft to unscrew them apart.

Re: Steering rod removal from worm gear.
Hi,
Turn the steering wheel to the left, I think, and the upper shaft, and gear will come out.
There should be 2 thick spacers on the steering upper shaft, 1 on each side of the small gear.
The lower spacer can fall off the end of the shaft as you remove the shaft and gear. It can fall down in the oil.
Be sure it is in place on the end of the shaft when putting the shaft in again.
Below is the Cub service manual, if you don't have it. It has lots of info.
There are pics of what is inside the steering gear in it.
There is a contents beginning on page 1 of most sections.
I would read section 3, the steering section, before taking the Cub apart.

It looks like the Cub has a sticker over where the serial number plate should be.
You didn't say the year of the Cub.
Below is a pic from TM Tractor of a Cub serial number plate, it has no model name, or serial number, or maximum engine RPM on it.
The original would have the name and numbers on it.
There were different styles of plates, depending on what year the Cub is.
