Hi,
A 1949 Cub is originally 6 volts, positive ground.
If you mean the 6 volt battery cable from the battery to the starter, the one that I bought at Case IH is number 2 cable, it said it printed on the cable insulation.
Below is a listing for a new cable at TM Tractor, you can look at the pics.

The 6 volt battery originally goes in the battery box with the negative post to the rear.
The dealer told me in the past that the cable is 84" long.

The positive cable is #2awg and is about 10" long.

There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Rather than using the battery box as the ground, extend the cable length so that it termiantes at the transaxle/transmission. Makes a much better ground.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Hi,
Bill, he didn't say if the Cub is 6 or 12 volts, positive or negative ground.
I was hoping he would post again and say.
In a post he made in August, he said it was converted to 12 volts.

He might be using 12 volts, or converting to 6 volts again.
Or 12 volts, with a 12 volt alternator.
I thought he more likely needed info for the longer cable, but I don't know.
Below is a post from recently about the 6 volt, positive ground cable.
My post is down the page some, and has a pic of the cable in a Cub operator's manual.

But your reply gave the impression it was six volts.
