4th split in a month

Postby Bill Hudson » Fri Jan 21, 2022 5:58 pm

Gonna start on my 4th split in a month. Hopefully, I'll only have to split this one once. :) It is an F-Cub (great) and not a Lo-Boy. The last one was a Lo-Boy and I had to split it three times. Let me say that weak springs on one pressure plate finger can cause a lot of frustration and extra work. Fort Wayne Clutch and Driveline has a kit (pressure plate, clutch, TOB, and alignment tool) for $113. Ordered it one afternoon and it was delivered the next day. Their number is 800-258-8243.

Good luck with your splitting project. I hope you have some help with it, as it seems to make it way easier.

When I split mine earlier this month, I had my buddy to help me, and it went really well.

Bill,
what is the symptom of a weak pp spring? I have a cub that when the clutch is pushed in all the way, when you start to let it out, the tractor will start to move then about 1/2 the way out , it stops, then it will work as normal.

In mine the clutch would vibrate and small chips were breaking off a new TOB. When I finally pushed on the PP fingers, one was clearly easier to push.
