Fuel flow issues

Postby ShawnAgne » Thu Jun 30, 2022 12:56 pm

When mowing this last time (also concerning previous question on over heating) I was having a fuel starvation problem. Long story short I noticed fuel was dripping VERY slowly into the bowl. However if I loosened the screw below the bowl the fuel flowed faster. Didn't figure that should be that way but was wondering what is causing the issue and what should I do?

Screen isn't plugged and there wasn't anything plugging the intake.

Thanks in advance.

Tank vent plugged? Remove the fuel cap and see if flow improves.

I had that problem and checked the above mentioned which were fine...air lock caused by a cheap fuel filter.

Screen in the carburetor inlet? Fuel line hose separation, inside the hose?

Throwing out a couple more possibilities.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Hose old n soft. Collapsed? Not opening valve all the way at glass fuel filter. Did you check the filter in the glass? It has one also and may be full of trash. You mentioned that you checked the screen. Which screen? One in carb? The sock in tank (if it has one)??? The one in the glass filter/water separator? An in line filter?

Yeah where the gas wasn't flowing was into the bowl itself it was slowly dripping. I loosen the screw holding the bowl and it flowed into the bowl faster.

Sounds like you had an air lock. I've been there before.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

I"ll check the vent in the cap. I sent in for one of the free replacements and it never showed up.
There isn't a fuel filter going straight from tank into bowl. Only thing is the screen on the bowl as far as filtering.

Try putting the gas cap on crooked and put a piece of duct tape over it.
