My first cub! Need help

Postby fireman72737 » Wed Jul 06, 2022 7:11 pm

I have my first cub, I have several other Internationals, over all seems in pretty good shape, but I can’t get it to run right. I cleaned the carburetor and it will idle for a minute then die. Usually starts right back. Tried a new carburetor and it only runs a few seconds on full choke only. Great compression, hot spark, and good fuel flow through the fuel system and carburetor. Kinda stumped at what to do or look at next. The cub is 12volt with electronic ignition. :help:

If I open the carburetor drain then replace the cub starts and runs good for 5 seconds or so then dies. If I leave the drain out I have good flow out of it, it’s like it’s air locked. I have tried it with the gas cap off and didn’t help

Have you checked the float settings on either one or both of the carburetors?

Sam’s farm thank you for that post link. I’ll check the air hole and float tomorrow and see how that is

You said you put a new (As in brand new?) carb on it and it will run for a few seconds and then die?
I had this exact problem, and found that the new carb had an air passageway that had not been drilled: https://youtu.be/IQbLbuSlQfc
Checks yours and see. After drilling this passage out, I have not had a lick of trouble from this carb.

The air bleed hole (bowl vent) would be my first guess. If the bowl can’t vent, it can’t fill with fuel.
