Woods 59 on a LO-BOY ?
Does anyone know if a Woods 59 underbelly mower that came off a 59 Cub will fit on a 1963 Cub lo boy? The parts all appear to be the same but I dont want to invest in a mower that will not fit. I am new to this and any help will be appreciated.

Thanks for the help. I've found mounting brackets but have not been able to find a mule drive for a lo boy that would fit a woods 59. a photo of one would be great as I have no idea what one looks like

This is one from a Pennington mower on my '57 that works well. It fastens on to the rear PTO cover plate:

Since you have 2 posts, you can access the PDF Manuals section of the forum. Click on Quick Links in the upper left corner of any page. The click on OEM Implement and Attachment Manuals, then Woods Mowers, then 59CL-3 or 59CL-4, whichever one you have. That should show you everything you need.

Re: Woods 59 on a LO-BOY ?
I bought a 1960 Lowboy a few years ago that, according to the seller, had a Woods 59 on it. The mower wasn’t with it but left attached was a homemade mule drive and guards. You could tell they mounted the 59 mower for an FCub. The one with the long cylindrical pole that runs back down the center of the mower.
The homemade mule drive looks very well-made. I had it sandblasted a few years ago along with some other parts.
According to the seller, he was mowing with the Woods 59 on this tractor for years until he hit something and broke a spindle and didn’t wanna mess with it anymore.
If you think this will work, I’ll send it for you for the cost of shipping. I am in Northeast Ohio so I’m guessing shipping will be roughly $20 with it being high everywhere. It has the cheaper style stamped idler pulleys.
One other drawback is that it doesn’t have the threaded bolts hardware welded to it to install the Woods guard. And I’m not sure if that could be done based on the design of it.

Re: Woods 59 on a LO-BOY ?
On this topic, I am trying to find out if a regular cub Woods 59 can be switched to fit a lo-boy simply by removing the center tube and switching out the arms that run from the mule drive to the back of the mower? Or is it a totally different mule drive?

Re: Woods 59 on a LO-BOY ?
Here is my freshly painted Woods 59 for a Cub Lowboy to help you see the mounting hardware. Attached to the mower are 2 arms (Push Channels) that extend back from the mower to mounting plates that are fastened to the finals. The height of the rear of the mower is adjusted by moving to a higher or lower hole in the mounting plate. As you can see, there is a cross member piece that connects in the middle.
If I’m recalling it correctly, there are 2 different 59 decks for an FCUB. So, in addition to the mule drive you would need the 2 arms that extend back plus the cross member plus a left and right mounting plate. And, the deck would have to have the proper parts welded to it to connect the cross member and arms that extend back to the finals. I also have a Woods 59 on an FCUB. The arms (Woods calls them Push Channels) as well as the hardware that attaches to the finals are totally different on a 59 for an FCub than what you see in the attached photo. I think the mower is positioned about 8” closer to the final drives on a Lowboy so I’m pretty certain it would never work. Plus the pieces that are bolted to the finals won’t line up with the finals rotated 90°.
On my tractor they did some major work fabricating their own parts to get the FCub 59 to work on a Lowboy. But, as previously mentioned it was the 59 with the cylindrical pole. I luckily found a complete Woods 59 CL for a Lowboy. Funny with the Lowboy considered to be primarily for mowing it seems like mowers for a Lowboy are hard to find. I have a 42CL for Lowboy that I still have but gave up on. It vibrated and the overrunning clutch moved up and down and very soon threw the belt. I’m sure the 42 is a good mower but I gave up. I didn’t like the idea that I have to have the belt “very tight” pulling down on the PTO shaft. have two Woods 59 mowers and I’ve never thrown a belt. It’s not overly finicky about belt tension.
