JB Weld

Postby Dusty B » Sat Aug 06, 2022 1:53 pm

Will JB Weld adhere to brass?? Have a cracked block that has been repaired by brazing - it is beginning yo seep anti-freeze. thinking of draining, sanding to get a clean base then applying thin layer of JB Weld! Open to other options?? Has held for 30 years so not really a panic situation! lol

Dusty B, I think I have read of someone who has had success with this method of repair. The chances of success would be better if the cooling system was run at atmospheric pressure as opposed to a pressurized system IMHO.

I have used JB weld on a brass water valve with a pin hole leak, sanded it , dried it good applied Jb weld and let it cure , still holding after many years of use, 55 plus lbs. water pressure.

I would be willing to bet you clean it brought it up a bit you will have no problem adhering to the brass. Just get all oils dirt or corrosion/tarnish off.
