Snow plow/grader blade

Postby Workinprogress » Fri Aug 12, 2022 7:09 pm

Going to look at grader blade/snow plow tomorrow morning. I don’t think any of the model tag info exist. I am not sure how knowledgeable the seller is on the plow.

Besides things like bends/cracks anything I should be checking for?

Is there a quick way to tell a low boy snow plow from a regular cub plow?

Thanks

Jump over to site sponsor TM Tractor Parts implement hookup page and scroll down until you get to the Leveling and Grader Blade section, lots of photos and info there.

Make sure you get the boomerang, many times it gets left on the owner's tractor.

Thanks! I keep forgetting that TM has photos.

Based on the TM photos it is starting to look like a lo-boy plow :(

The mounting brackets are different for a LoBoy but the blade is the same. LoBoy brackets will fit on a FCub but the FCub brackets will not work on a LoBoy. The reason they are made differently is because the LoBoy is closer to the ground because of the front spindles which require a different offset made brackets. All this results in a difference in the clearance height of the blade when it is raised. Here's a link to an old post: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=105136

Loboy plow is harder to find I’d buy if the price is right you could convert it and sell the Loboy brackets, loboy hanger on an F Cub is from what I’ve read on the web an improvement on blade lift height .

Also, just FYI there are 3 versions of the cub blade. 1. McCormick Deering blade 1948, 2. Leveling and grading blade #54 and 3. Leveling and grading blade #54A. :hattip:

I use a lo-boy blade on my standard cub, works just fine as a plow; grader position is a bit tricky but not impossible. You can fab an extension to make the spring rod assembly long enough for the blade to reach the ground for grading.

Thanks for all the help. I now own a snow plow/grader blade.

Cutting edge looks good but slight bend in the blade. Also there might be a slight bend in the two push arms. Overall totally usable in current form.

Price was fair and did include an almost new set of rubber strap tire chains. Since my driveway is all gravel I am not sure how useful they will be for me so might be putting them up for sale.

Congrats, good looking setup. Definitely a LOBOY mount, the funky bends in the lower mounting bracket assy is a dead giveaway.

Mounting frame looks like L-54 but some of the other lifts parts look like an early Cub-54.

Just did test fitting on the tractor. Based on the images at TM tractors looks like in need to make a bracket for the lift to get better alignment.

Below is a clipping from a image at TM tractor.

Anyone have the dimensions of this?

Thanks
